Music has the profound ability to capture any moment in time and any relevant emotions that are connected.

Eyes on Me isn’t a song that you would hear on the radio or see at the top of the billboard charts, at least not here in the Western Hemisphere, but its lyrics tell a story that could be the anthem of many musicians.

Written over twenty years ago, Eyes on Me echoes its hauntingly beautiful melody throughout the platform it was written specifically for: the eighth installment of the legendary Final Fantasy game series.

When I first heard the song I was an ambitious, yet struggling nineteen year old musician who had always had a soft spot for that particular gaming franchise.

The song is written from the point of view of a struggling nightclub singer named Julia and details her secret feelings for her biggest fan, an awkward star-struck soldier who would never have guessed that his infatuation with her was mutual. From the moment I first heard its brilliant intro and the poetic, epic tale it preceded, it immersed me…
